Day 1 – The Grand Mosque and Royal Palace. The mosque was beautiful but after having seen the one in Abu Dhabi I have to say it paled in comparison. The highlight was seeing one of the Sultan’s royal yachts. According to my research is the second most expensive yacht in the world, valued around $500 million (USD). Unfortunately I spend the day dying with the worst cold I have had since before COVID. Freaking brutal. Thomas and Elizabeth getting me some medicine was a lifesaver.

Day 2 – Sinkhole and the beach. The beach was beautiful, but unfortunately we did not have time to go in. Saw some sea turtles. Still pretty sick, so did not go in the water at the sinkhole. That night we also got to go to a seat turtle preserve and see a female sea turtle giving birth on the beach. A first for me.

Day 3 – Visited a wadi (valley) with water and went for a swim. The water was so clear and there were the little fish that eat your dead skin so whenever you stopped swimming they would nibble on your toes/feet, giving you a pedicure. Also ended the day in the desert with a wild 4 x 4 drive that was clearly too crazy for some people in the group. We even went so hard at one point that the rubber part of the front right tire came clean off. Luckily, they were able to fix it.

Day 4 – Visited a very old fort and the town of Bahla.

Day 5 – Jabal Sham. The Grand Canyon of Oman. Very impressive. Also visited the cattle market.

Recap: Overall this tour was more for older people. Nothing wrong with that, I just would have appreciated a more active-style tour. Probably would not have mattered though since I spent the first half of this tour with a brutal cold. Oman is a very picturesque country, and the beaches were truly gorgeous. If I went back I would spend more time in the gorges and at the beaches.
